What is Coaching?

Coaching is an on-going, professional client-directed relationship in which the coach and client work as a collaborative partnership to produce positive and lasting change in the client’s personal development, relationships, career and overall environment. Coaching is not advice giving nor counselling, but a facilitating process designed to assit the client in finding creative and effective solutions, ideas and strategies.

What is "Solution Focused" Coaching?

There are many effective and diverse coaching methodologies. In Solution Focused Coaching, emphasis is placed on future/goal directed thinking and actions, and on uncovering the most effective and direct pathways to the client’s success. The entire structure of the coaching process is geared towards the successful achievement of the client’s long term goals and vision, versus reliving and rehashing problem areas from the client’s past.

What is the V.I.M.A.C. process?

Phase 1: Vision and Values:
In this aspect of coaching, clients discover and define what they truly want to achieve, get more closely in-touch with their life's purpose and vision and begin to consciously examine and activate their inner value system that informs and guides this purpose.

Phase 2: Image:
For many people, a poor self image or lack of confidence is the most daunting barrier to their success. In this process, clients target their self defeating behaviours and destructive mind-sets and discover the person they are at their very best, effectively re-claiming who they need to be to reach their highest potential.

Phase 3: Motivation:
Maintaining a high level of motivation is a challenge for many people. Here, clients define and develop effective motivational systems and strategies towards their goals and say good-bye to persistent and defeating obstacles and barriers.

Phase 4: Action Plan:
In this critical phase, clients design and implement a realistic and effective step-by-step strategy towards achieving their short and long term goals.

Phase 5: Completion:
Goals are achieved, successes are celebrated and clients move forward, as the architects of their fulfilling presents and futures.

How long will I need to work with a coach?

Depending entirely on the goal of the client, a coaching relationship can last anywhere from one session to weekly sessions over a year’s time. For single, uncomplicated short-term goals, one or two coaching sessions are often effective in getting clients on track, however, for clients who are working towards their long-term futures with multiple short term goals and stages, a more long-term partnership is suggested.
